Five Crowns
I found
this game on Amazon while I was doing a research on different card games made
under the maker of UNO. No, it is not a Mattel product. I bought a value pack of
8 Mattel card games and decided to acquire something non-Mattel. Then I found
it.
“Five
Crowns” is a product of SET and is now under PlayMonster. Compare to conglomerates
such as Mattel and Hasbro, PlayMonster isn’t really big. And there are only a
handful of card games under their name. But “Five Crowns” is award winning.
Consists
of 116 cards in 5 suits, “Five Crowns” is a rummy game. The goal is to get rid
of all your cards before other player. A game consists of 11 rounds and the player
got the lowest score wins.
To
be honest, I got a feeling that this game is very much like Chinese Mahjong.
And it depends very much on luck rather than skills. But my kids love it. So
what can I say?

Hacking
The
game can be hacked by using 3 identical standard decks of playing cards, perfectly
in bridge size.
1. Remove all A’s and 2s. “Five Crowns” does not have A’s
and 2s.
2. Remove any two suits from the third deck.
3. Use a marker pen to draw a star on each card of the remaining 2 suits of the
third deck to form the star suit.
4. Keep all 6 jokers. There should be 116 cards in total.
