Lowdown
We
have a lot of Mattel toys around. But I have never heard of Lowdown. Mattel is
not keen on promoting card games in my city, apart from UNO.
This
Lowdown pack is one of the 8 card games in the Mattel value pack. Designed in
2016, Lowdown is relatively new when compare to UNO or Skip-Bo. With a total of
84 cards in the deck, the box is exactly the same size as that of the UNO. It nicely
fits alongside with other American card games.
Lowdown
belongs to the golf family. The goal is to get the lowest score. The deck
consists of 7 colour suits and 1 functional suit, plus wild cards. Graphic
design is very simple. There is no face card, only numbers. Suit sizes are
uneven and each suit contains cards in different values. For example, the
largest suit is orange and it contains 20 cards, all with higher values. This
allows orange cards to be easily cleared out at the end of the round. However,
if failed, the player will end up with high score. Other suits with fewer cards
are difficult to clear but cards are mainly with smaller values.
The
game play is easy but it requires a bit of memory. My kids like it but I don’t
like the font and the colour.
